Rainbow Octopus Pattern






It's a rainbow octopus!






Materials:
Yarn -- red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, blue, purple, pink, black, and white
Stuffing
Sewing needle
Knowledge of embroider (for eyes)

Abreviations:
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch
inc: increase
dec: decrease
st: stitch
fo: fasten off

Body
magic circle/ch 2 sc in first ch
1) 8 sc around (8 sts)                    [RED]
2) inc around (16 sts)
3) [inc, 1 sc] around (24 sts)         [ORANGE]
4) [inc, 2 sc] around (32 sts)
5) [inc, 3 sc] around (40 sts)         [YELLOW]
6) [inc, 4 sc] around (48 sts)
7) [inc, 5 sc] around (56 sts)         [GREEN]
8) 1 sc around (56 sts)
9- 10) 1 sc around                         [LIGHT BLUE]
11 - 12) 1 sc around                 [BLUE]
13 - 14) 1 sc around                 [PURPLE]
15 - 16) 1 sc around                   [PINK]
17) 1 sc around                         [RED]

Legs/Tentacles (x8)
**Crochet EIGHT of these in the eight colors you used for the body

magic circle/ch 2 sc in first ch
1) 6 sc around (6 sts)
2) inc around (12 sts)
3) [inc, 1 sc] around (18 sts)
4 - 5) 1 sc around (18 sts)
6) dec around (9 sts)

FO, leave a long tail for sewing (don't sew the hole closed)

Mouth
ch 8, sl st in first chaing to form a circle [RED]
1) 12 sc around in circle                 [RED]
2) [inc, 3 sc] around (15 sts)           [ORANGE]
3-6) 1 sc around                                           [YELLOW, GREEN, LIGHT BLUE, BLUE]
7) dec, 6 sc, dec, 5 sc (13 sts)                         [PURPLE]

FO, leave a long tail for sewing
**I skipped pink because it would be really long with 8 rows.

Eyes (x2)
1) ch 4, turn; 2 sc across, 3 sc in last stitch; do NOT turn, 2 sc along bottom of piece to form an oval shape; 2 sc in last st, sl st in first stitch

FO, leave a long tail for sewing
**I embroidered some white for the pupil or something in the eyes, so if you want to do that, you can.

Assembly
Sew eight legs to body about one inch apart
**I sewed them between the rows of pink and red on the bottom of the body (around 16-17)
Fold the mouth in half, sew to body
**I sewed the mouth between the rows of pink and blue of the body (around 12-15)
Sew eyes to body
